Easily one of our biggest single releases of 2016 at First Word was 'Still Standing' - the debut single by Children Of Zeus, aka Konny Kon and Tyler Daley. The wax of this sold out instantly and was bumped by DJs far and wide, from Pete Rock to Toddla T to Chase & Status. The Lenzman rub was named "Best Remix" at the 2016 Drum & Bass Arena Awards.

Since then, the Manchester duo have been turning heads across the land. Tyler recently appeared on Goldie's latest album, whilst Konny has also been working with Dub Phizix. They've appeared in The Guardian, Time Out, BBC Radio 1, Boiler Room and The Source, they hold down a monthly show on NTS, and have done live shows with the likes of Soul II Soul, Mos Def, De La Soul and Slum Village.

Quietly dropping somewhat of an anthem at the end of 2016 on our 'Two Syllables' compilation ('Crown'), it's long overdue we drop another single from these guys.

'I Can't Wait' eases us in on a slow and low 70bpm bump. Hashtag baby making music. Seriously, there needs to be some sort of health warning before playing. Consider this your warning. This is grown folk shit. Classic slow jam material. The flip side 'Don't Say A Word' is on some heavyweight 90bpm boom bap business. Certified dancefloor fire, cementing the duo's status as some of the UK's dopest talent out there right now.

The Manchester music scene has been on fire of late, and Children of Zeus exemplify this. Following on from the influence of heritage artists like Loose Ends, Omar and The Sindecut, this is British black music at its best and brightest.

More info from First Word...
"We kick off this month with the long awaited return to wax for Children of Zeus. In late Summer last year, First Word had a special Boiler Room show, in which Tyler Daley and Konny Kon debuted the track 'I Can't Wait', announcing (*demanding) it would be their next single. So here it is!

Already receiving love from the likes of Jazzie B, Alexander Nut, Marc Mac, Jon1st and BBC 1Xtra, this is set to follow in the footsteps of their now-classic debut 'Still Standing'. The flipside isn't shabby either, by any stretch.. 'Don't Say A Word' (also featured in the same Boiler Room set) has just been premiered by the good folks at Bonafide, so head over there for a sneaky listen.

Manchester's Children of Zeus have had a solid year of shows supporting numerous musical peers, most recently sharing the stage with the wonderful Yussef Kamaal. CoZ have also gained props in the D&B world - Tyler appeared on Goldie's latest album, and the Lenzman rub of 'Still Standing' was named "Best Remix" at the D&B Arena Awards.

Quietly dropping somewhat of an anthem at the end of 2016 on our 'Two Syllables' compilation ('Crown'), it's long overdue we drop another single from these guys. So here's another two-track slab of sweet but dusty soul music. Their last single sold out in a flash, so don't go waiting.

'I Can't Wait' is available from this Friday (April 7th) on vinyl 7" and digital.

Catch the boys monthly Sundays live on NTS Radio, watch out for a brand new video dropping very soon, and expect more Pickney of Zeus flavours later in the year!"
