Purity was written in 2021 and was one of a few tracks I had completed, but remained unreleased. In 2022 I played a show for Dissonance in Bristol, and consequently played Purity, to which George (Artificial Red) contacted me the following day about this particular track I played, and I told him it was a piece called Purity. He really liked it and asked if he could remix it, and I agreed. Not long after he sent over the remix which I liked, but at that point I wasn't too sure where we could release them, so they remained unreleased for a time. In the latter part of 2023 we both played a show together and he played the remix, which caught my attention as I hadn't heard it in a while, and that was my first time hearing it on bigger speakers and I thought it sounded great! Celebrating 15 years of the nominal "post-dubstep" label, this limited 12" EP hears four exclusive, unreleased tracks from an upcoming label-definer compilation, the third in a series. Born from the basement of Plastic People, the pressure has remained continuously on Eglo to keep the same foment of bass musical innovation that the club nurtured alive. Plastic People is a routinised object of nostalgia, and it is often deemed the last proper place for innovation in bass music before austerity Britain militated against it. Zed Bias's remix of Chunky's 'Dancing On Tables' with Metrodome - and the deep, bruk-inspired track, 'Minerals,' from Liverpool's rising star Sticky Dub - both prove this assessment totally wrong. While nowhere near his most celebrated work, 'I Need You' is undoubtedly one of sadly departed San Francisco disco star Sylvester's most potent dancefloor workouts - a typically driving mood-enhancing cover that transformed a gospel song into a soaring, surging, tops-off hymn to sexual desire. This reissue pairs the Harvey Fuqua-produced original 12" version (1980) with what appears to be a previously unreleased re-edit by Chicago house originator Ron Hardy. The latter's take is more rhythmically sturdy and lightly percussive, with vocal and full instrumental sections (often drenched in effects) sitting side by side with extended drum workouts. It's a fine alternative take of a disco record that should be in everyone's record collection. Learn More

pianist/composer Aidan Shepherd and drummer Tim Carnegie - were invited to Mykonos as part of a collaboration between Maera Music and 22a, which allowed the band to spend a few days writing and recording some new music. It was an opportunity for the quartet to spend some time together in a secluded hillside villa without any distractions and ultimately kick start the writing process for a long overdue album. Forms is the debut release from Naturalisten. Behind this name is Rado, one of the founders of the Unknown Species collective. They've put together some great underground parties in London through the years, giving space to new talents and sounds, and blissfully ignoring trends and fads. Rado's colourful and imaginative take on deep techno shines through all the six tracks here. Fans of the sounds we often hear on the likes of Delsin, Nous'Klaer Audio, Spazio Disponibile, Bitta, Animalia, are likely to find plenty to love here. Starting with the subtlety of "Release The Tension"; passing through the swampy "Against The Tide", the bleepy minimal drum'n'bass of "Woodpecker", the acid deepness of "Aves Acid"; and landing on the early-morning atmospheres of "Canopy Dreams", which we find very much reminiscent of some exquisite James Holden moments from a time long gone. The final touch to an already beautiful body of work is added by Forest Drive West with his remix of the opening track "Release The Tension". Encore has been remastered from the original tapes and features 11 compositions by Arthur Verocai who was joined by the legendary Azymuth, Ivan Lins and a nine-piece string section. The album was a long-awaited follow-up to his 1972 debut so bridges 35 years and bottles up Brazilian influences with American soul and cinematic experimentation. Initially overlooked amongst his wider canon, Verocai's debut gained cult status thanks to Far Out Recordings' Joe Davis who rediscovered it in the late 80s. In 2004, producer Dave Brinkworth brought Verocai back to the studio to reignite his musical brilliance. The official sales note and PR are fairly enigmatic and mysterious out of respect for the wishes of the artists, but it's fairly widely shared public knowledge that NRSB-11 is primarily a collaboration between Gerald Donald (Drexciya, Dooplereffekt, Arpanet, Japanese Telecom and many more) and DJ Stingray 313 (Urban Tribe, official tour DJ for Drexciya and acclaimed solo artist). Originally released as a limited edition in 2013 on Belgium's WéMè label, their sole album Commodified quickly went out-of-print and has been much sought after ever since - it's currently on 1,783 Discogs wants lists. For the initial reissue, we've produced a special transparent 2 x LP edition with the original album artwork screenprinted onto a PVC outer-sleeve, and two clear vinyl discs housed in transparent poly inner bags. This edition is limited to 2,000 copies worldwide and we don't expect them to stick around for long. There is also a standard CD edition containing 3 bonus tracks.
