  1. HIATT DB - Palimpsest

    HIATT DB - Palimpsest

    £11.99

From the backwaters of New Orleans, Hiatt dB bursts forth with ‘Palimpsest’, a remarkable debut on Rhythm Section International, marking the label’s first recruit from the US of A. Having grown up in San Antonio feeling the absence of ‘club culture’, instead finding dive bars and live music venues in its place, Hiatt sourced creative inspiration elsewhere and evolved a love for the region that was born out of its vivid history. “I’m proud and grateful to be making music in the American Gulf South - a part of the world that has brought so many people, ideas, and sounds together by way of both tragedy and triumph alike.” Learn More
  2. THEO PARRISH - This Is For You (with Maurissa Rose) / Inst (Pre Order)

THEO PARRISH - This Is For You (with Maurissa Rose) / Inst (Pre Order)

    £15.49

There's always a sense of reverent elation around a new drop from Theo Parrish, and he's not disappointing on this latest joint. Reports suggest this is the precursor to a new album, and there's a classic feel to this track that hints at very exciting times ahead. Parrish's sparks shine oh-so bright when he's sparring with the right vocalist, and Maurissa Rose seems to be giving him the right inspiration on "This Is For You". He's created the kind of understated soul statement that inhabits some of his most treasured albums, using a raw and simple drum machine backing to achingly beautiful key refrains that melt around Rose's voice on the vocal A side, and give rise to a sublime instrumental version on the flip. Dorisburg follows up with an angular, spiraling beat where the devil is in the sizzling details. Genius of Time close out the record on the flip with another one of their signature organic drum workouts. Learn More

  10. SUCHI - Ghungroo EP

    SUCHI - Ghungroo EP

    £14.99

Suchi’s bouncy, airy productions are so organically deft that they almost belie the complexity that exists within. Prior to her !K7 debut the Oslo-born, London-bred, Delhi-influenced DJ and producer found herself in a period of creative stagnation, while attempting to rediscover her own voice through production. After going back to the drawing board again and again she resolved to let go of overthinking, eschew the process, and let experimentation lead the way, revisiting some simmering sketches and work in new ways. Ghungroo EP is the result of this reset, and rediscovers Suchi’s sense of playfulness through different production styles. It’s pressed on eco-friendly vinyl, PVR free and 100% recycled. . Learn More

So, we get Iberican tribal drums fused with hazy trumpet solos ("Feed Off Of"), dreamy ambience ("Candlelit"), groovy downtempo beats (the hip-hop influenced "Supafly"), sumptuous and sensual dancefloor deepness ("Lotus (In Memory Of)"), and dark, intense, occasionally dubbed-out late night business ("Whistle Song", "Visitation", the stripped-back hip-house of "Toc"). There's little in the way of filler or fluff, and plenty of playable, club-ready material. Learn More
