  3. VARIOUS - HJP097 (2 x LP)

    VARIOUS - HJP097 (2 x LP)

    £23.48

Four dazzling, extended engagements with mbalax master-drumming. The contribution from Holy Tongue is chase-the-devil steppers — thumping, clangorous, reverberating — super-charged with energy and atmosphere. From the off, drummer Valentina Magaletti detonates a hard rain of small bombs, rounds of fire, ticking fuses. Musical co-ordinates are somewhere between classic On-U Sound crew like African Head Charge, The Mothmen, and Creation Rebel, and the experimental funk of the Pop Group and 23 Skidoo, at their funkiest. Thrillingly, the two dubs are increasingly deranged. Adjusting the same wavelengths as her Learn More

  5. WHYTWO - Ghost (2 x LP)

    WHYTWO - Ghost (2 x LP)

    £28.99

We've now arrived at Whytwo's debut LP, 'Ghost', an exhilarating and elasticated take on Drum & Bass that exists in the hinterland between elation, melancholy and longing. Mirroring Whytwo's music, the album's title, 'Ghost', is richly layered word, meaning, in different places and at different times; a memory of something or someone; to disappear without communication; to move quietly and quickly; to secretly do work for another; and, of course, a being caught between worlds. From the old English, 'Gast', meaning 'breath' or 'spirit', the word eventually transformed into 'Ghost' coming to describe "a slight suggestion, mere shadow or semblance". All of these definitions relate, in some way, to the album now before us. Learn More
  6. OM UNIT - Threads (2 x LP)

    OM UNIT - Threads (2 x LP)

    £27.98

‘Threads’ was my 1st album as Om Unit and this 10-year re-mastered anniversary edition comes around at what feels like a similar time for me of experimentation and finding new ways to connect sounds. Something of a full circle of sorts but then again I am marking time with this re-issue at a time where I can look back and feel very proud of the work still sounding so convincing. Now even better thanks to Subvert Central’s Robert Macchiochi! Learn More
  7. JOSEPH S JOYCE - Vedanta Remixed

JOSEPH S JOYCE - Vedanta Remixed

    £15.98

Joseph S Joyce’s 2014 dub techno hit ‘Vedanta’ returns in 2023 with fresh remixes from El Choop, Sebastian Mullaert, Van Bonn, Federsen, Paul 90 and more, on this six-track vinyl and digital package, coming via his own Default Position imprint this June. The original "Vedanta", which featured remixes from the renowned Sebastian Mullaert, was met with acclaim and support from leading DJs such as Sven Väth and Joris Vorn. It was therefore only natural that a remix EP should follow. Nearly a decade on and El Choop opens this new release with his ‘Reconstruct’ twist. The Echocord artist lays down a typically raw and subtly nuanced rework before Sebastian Mullaert returns once again with an ‘Ambient Mix’ providing, as the name would suggest, a cinematic journey through washed-out chords and subtle melodies. 8. BURNT FRIEDMAN & JOAO PAIS FILIPE - Automatic Music Vol 1: Mechanics Of Waving

BURNT FRIEDMAN & JOAO PAIS FILIPE - Automatic Music Vol 1: Mechanics Of Waving

    £17.99

Since 2018 João Pais Filipe (on drums) and Burnt Friedman (electronics/synth) investigate into automatic pattern–composition rooted in doubling and halving; the unimpeachable laws of motion. The offer of freedom can be seen as a way to get in touch with necessity. On „Mechanics Of Waving“ the attempt is made to succumb to such a mode of action, the drilling of a method, not through individual cunning or displayed musicianship. Through constant practise Friedman & Pais discover the principles of rhythmic phenomena while dis–associating the music from cultural idioms. Inspired by rare infrasound–ratios ranging from 11 to 23, Nonplace releases the results of a 4 years long operation. Learn More
