gyrofield is 22-year-old, Utrecht-via-Hong-Kong producer Kiana Li, who has put out several albums and over a dozen EPs since 2018, from self-released productions to projects on Metalheadz, XL Recordings and FABRICLIVE among many others. Their next EP is Suspension of Belief, and it arrives on Objekt's label, Kapsela. (Following last year's Ganzfeld and Chicken Garaage, it's Kapsela's first record by an artist other than Objekt himself.) Label affiliates Mytron and Zongamin make a combined return to the ever-on-point Canadian stable Multi Kulti, delivering an extended selection of typically off-kilter, genre-bending sonic mastery. In what appears to be a match made in the leftfield heavens, the duo join forces to explore dance-ish music's outer reaches, blending tribal motifs with 8-bit sampling and all manner of wonkiness. From the blissful bells of Conjunction With Reality to the bass-heavy throb of GHX, there is unsurprisingly plenty to savour here. Opening cut '08932168' blends enchanting lead melodies with rolling polyrhythms and dubbed-out effects before the equatorial percussion of 'Calliope Omniglot' makes way for the wiggy atmospherics of the collection's title track. 'Theme' is a 1999 techno classic from Mion aka Edit Select that was originally released on Music Man. 26 years on, it still sounds future and chimes with the deep tech sound of now, so has been remastered and offered up alongside new remixes from Vil, Earwax and Deniro. The original is a textured, loose and chunky techno stomper with fuzzy pads and imperfect edges. Vil's version has wispy synths and static electricity fizzing around a deep mid-tempo groove and cavernous sub bass. Sometimes, the perfect track just comes out of nowhere, and that's exactly how Mamacita's 'Tu Amor' came to be. A Chilean rendition of Jamie Principle & Frankie Knuckles' 'Your Love,' the track was originally released in 2012 and gained attention after being played by the Idjut Boys in their sets. DJ Steve KIW caught wind of it and passed it along to Mr Bongo, where it quickly became a favorite. During a performance in Barcelona, Luke Una dropped the track and immediately felt the connection. The song's raw, DIY energy, combined with its unique arrangement, made it a natural fit for E Soul Cultura, leading to its first vinyl release. Created by Chilean DJ Mamacita (Carolina Vallejos) and producer Persona RS (Sebastian Roman) using lo-fi equipment, the track captures the spirit of early Chicago house. It gained a following within Chile’s underground scene but didn’t get much exposure outside Latin America and the US. For this release, Luke Una and Luke Solomon have re-edited the track, extending it and highlighting its quirky synths while maintaining that cosmic, offbeat vibe. Both the original and the re-edit are included in this vinyl release, giving new life to this previously underappreciated gem. Learn More

The official sales note and PR are fairly enigmatic and mysterious out of respect for the wishes of the artists, but it's fairly widely shared public knowledge that NRSB-11 is primarily a collaboration between Gerald Donald (Drexciya, Dooplereffekt, Arpanet, Japanese Telecom and many more) and DJ Stingray 313 (Urban Tribe, official tour DJ for Drexciya and acclaimed solo artist). Originally released as a limited edition in 2013 on Belgium's WéMè label, their sole album Commodified quickly went out-of-print and has been much sought after ever since - it's currently on 1,783 Discogs wants lists. For the initial reissue, we've produced a special transparent 2 x LP edition with the original album artwork screenprinted onto a PVC outer-sleeve, and two clear vinyl discs housed in transparent poly inner bags. This edition is limited to 2,000 copies worldwide and we don't expect them to stick around for long. There is also a standard CD edition containing 3 bonus tracks. Altered Circuits' next release comes by way of Bologna-to-Berlin transplant Jacopo Latini. On the Motherboard EP he combines stubby drums and sultry, efficient basslines with richly hued synth work. Once the cuts get going, a tapestry of melody reveals itself: gated leads are accompanied by burbling arpeggios, momentous chord progressions and bright pads that crawl in and out. The patches often incline to the bright and dreamy but are deployed with restraint; in the same vein, concealed and aloof vocal samples get sprinkled in. Scottish producer Milton Jackson returns to Freerange with four club-rooted collaborations that bridge Glasgow's punch with Detroit's finesse. It's a new release that brings Brian Kage on co-production and mastering, HazMat Live on synth duties, and Jon Dixon supplying characteristically sharp keys i and the results are as warm and robust as you'd expect. 'Fire Emoji' opens with a stripped-down, pressure-cooked club tool: all booming low-end, echoing vocal wisps and crisp arrangement. 'The Sunsetters' is the emotional peak, built around a fluid synth solo from HazMat Live and buoyed by plush pads and 909 accents. Vardae has dabbled with 85/170bpm speeds before, most notably on his excellent 'The Kaipos' EP. This time we get a full EP's worth of deep techno-influenced drum & bass, a sound that is familiar to anyone following recent trends in the deeper scenes of techno: acid lines, forest drums, mystic vocals, etc. The opener 'The Light Motion' is a halftime groover with fluttering percussion propelling it forward. The second 'Chaeming Your Soul' has a more recognisable drum & bass rhythm underneath, bringing to mind Overlook and UVB-76's back catalogue with powerful acid washes over the top.
