There's not much we can tell you about the identities of the "trusty producers" behind the Old Boys Vinyl Sessions project, other than that they have been making and releasing music under various aliases since the pre-MP3 days. It's easy to see why they want to avoid publicity, as what's an offer is a tasty house rework of a string-laden Blue Nile number from back in 1984. The opening 'Cloudburst Vox' wraps elements of the band's sultry, simmering original track (strings, vocals, pianos) and tech-house electronics around a locked-in house groove, while the accompanying 'Cloudburst Dub' strips out the vocals while retaining the gorgeous arrangements and druggy 21st century sounds. The extended flipside 'Torrent Vox' ramps up the strings and other picturesque sounds, inserting a simply stunning extended breakdown for good measure. Learn More

The genesis of the tracks on the Defiance LP [HOROEX38] came directly in the aftermath of the Space Echo EP by ASC for Samurai Red Seal. At the time, James made remixes of some of the tracks from this EP in an updated style for use on his last European tour. Two of these remixes make up the Defiance: Prelude release. Space Echo gets rebuilt into a more sinuous, ethereal soundscape, and Reveal is also refined into a graceful flotation device with sprinkles of air from the ether. Learn More

The official sales note and PR are fairly enigmatic and mysterious out of respect for the wishes of the artists, but it's fairly widely shared public knowledge that NRSB-11 is primarily a collaboration between Gerald Donald (Drexciya, Dooplereffekt, Arpanet, Japanese Telecom and many more) and DJ Stingray 313 (Urban Tribe, official tour DJ for Drexciya and acclaimed solo artist). Originally released as a limited edition in 2013 on Belgium's WéMè label, their sole album Commodified quickly went out-of-print and has been much sought after ever since - it's currently on 1,783 Discogs wants lists. For the initial reissue, we've produced a special transparent 2 x LP edition with the original album artwork screenprinted onto a PVC outer-sleeve, and two clear vinyl discs housed in transparent poly inner bags. This edition is limited to 2,000 copies worldwide and we don't expect them to stick around for long. There is also a standard CD edition containing 3 bonus tracks. Originally released on Deviate in 1995, this 13 minute techno trip caused mayhem on dancefloors across the world. Peter's love for early Detroit techno in can be heard in the beautiful Res*lute. Warm strings, deep basslines and a repetitive synth theme provide for a stunning track which was used by Carl Craig in his selection for the influential DJ Kicks series.
