  1. MAMACITA feat PERSONA RS - Tu Amor EP

MAMACITA feat PERSONA RS - Tu Amor EP

    £16.99

Sometimes, the perfect track just comes out of nowhere, and that's exactly how Mamacita's 'Tu Amor' came to be. A Chilean rendition of Jamie Principle & Frankie Knuckles' 'Your Love,' the track was originally released in 2012 and gained attention after being played by the Idjut Boys in their sets. DJ Steve KIW caught wind of it and passed it along to Mr Bongo, where it quickly became a favorite. During a performance in Barcelona, Luke Una dropped the track and immediately felt the connection. The song's raw, DIY energy, combined with its unique arrangement, made it a natural fit for E Soul Cultura, leading to its first vinyl release. Created by Chilean DJ Mamacita (Carolina Vallejos) and producer Persona RS (Sebastian Roman) using lo-fi equipment, the track captures the spirit of early Chicago house. It gained a following within Chile’s underground scene but didn’t get much exposure outside Latin America and the US. For this release, Luke Una and Luke Solomon have re-edited the track, extending it and highlighting its quirky synths while maintaining that cosmic, offbeat vibe. Both the original and the re-edit are included in this vinyl release, giving new life to this previously underappreciated gem. Learn More

    £11.99

KZN005 sees Silas & Snare return to the Kaizen fold with the three-track 'Pressure' EP. Lead track 'Pressure' is a continuation of Kaizen's recognisably weighty bass-inspired sound, carried by hefty kicks and screwed synths after a lengthy cosmic build-up. A downtempo influence runs through 'Dreamscape', the floaty synths countered with skittering drums, while EP closer 'Whistle Blower' is packed with industrial percussion and creepy bleeps made for those heads-down, screw-face moments on the dancefloor. This EP comes three years after Silas & Snare's Kaizen debut, 'Biometric'. Gear up and get ready for some 'Pressure'! Learn More

  24. THEO PARRISH - You Forgot / Dirt Rhodes

THEO PARRISH - You Forgot / Dirt Rhodes

    £16.99

Sound Signature boss Theo Parrish does a fine job of keeping the majority of his vast back catalogue available to buy for all. It's a tough job, too, cause most of it sells out in a quick fashion, so he has to be on the ball with reissues. A couple are landing this month and 'You Forgot' is one of them. It was his label's 15th release way back in 2001 and for many, b-side cut 'Dirt Rhodes' is one of Parrish's best and most definite tracks. The grinding mechanical grooves that lock you into a hypnotic state are overlaid with perfectly knackered-sounding Rhodes chords and it makes for a magical listen. 'You Forgot' with its soulful vocal musings and perfunctory drum sounds is not bad either. Learn More

After all, the best among us eat bangers for breakfast! The A-siders rattle out like inexhaustible mags, as we hunt down bullet-holed cardboard cutouts of mortal enemies, spied in the reticle. It's only until after such an opening bloodbath that we find a moment to catch our breaths and put on a 'Clean Shirt', where rejuvenative acids resound between roomier beat. Finally, 'Drift N Shift' hears Kalcagni pack in his shift at the shooting range and steal away into a misty, chord-laden night, though the sense of urgency is not lost on us. Learn More

SURGEON - Shell Wave (2x LP)

    £32.99

Since at least 2024, by our reckoning, shells have been having something of a moment in electronic music. Why, exactly, is anyone’s guess. Maybe it’s the unsettling feel of nautilus palps or the spiraling segments of ancient fossils—forms that seem to intuit the mechanized pulse of techno. Birmingham linchpin Surgeon (Anthony Child) taps into this fascination, transforming chirping sonic opercula into filter-fed 4/4 Borg-like entities. Despite the thematic suggestion, Child keeps his setup minimal: “For me, it's an interesting experience returning to old techniques again after 30 years,” he says. The result is a stripped-back, live-style set—eight tracks recorded in single takes. Only "Dying" breaks from the beat-driven mold, offering a morose, mantra-like soundscape. Learn More

'Kitchen Sync' takes things to 120bpm where acid and glimmering keys create a fusion of the known and the otherworldly. Finally, in 'Inspo 2000' a playful percussive edge guides you to a soft landing and ends what is a brilliantly evocative EP. Learn More

'Context' opens with swirling celestial pads, traintrack-like grooves and plenty of vinyl crackle while 'Second' is a super slow motion and utterly sparse world with the most wispy pad and occasional hit sketching out the vibe and rhythm. 'Good Deal' twinkles with a little more light and hope in the melodies that break the surface as dusty drums and dub bass cocoon you from below. £15.49

Medellin producer Marck D (Charlie Escobar) is a new Planet Rhythm poster child, though his digital releasing repertoire is nonetheless colossal even without them, his many affairs including Illegal Alien, Phobiq and IAMT. Shocker it is, then, that 'Dune' is Escobar's first ever 12"; the record brings ultraphonic chord slurries ('Behind The Chord') and federated, intergalactic-dynastic codes of techno honour ('Atreides'), riding the sand-wormed thematics of the Frank Herbert sci-fi classic. 1. £15.98

This five-track remix collection weaves together deep bass-driven soundscapes with intricate, emotive detail. The opening track, 'Patient,' merges euphoric melodies with a stunning fusion of bass music and orchestral beauty. Next, Ehua's remix of 'Hold Me A Bit Longer' brings a burst of energy with broken beats, jittery keyboard edits, and a fragmented rhythm that's impossible to ignore. Sinistarr's take on 'Divinity' offers a lush, atmospheric journey, filled with ambient textures that captivate the listener. On Side 2, Synkro, an R&S favourite, reimagines 'Birth' as a downtempo piece, balancing deep bass growls with ethereal vocals and delicate piano flourishes. Finally, the collection closes with Itoa’s remix of 'Prayer,' which builds a slow, hypnotic groove, blending techno elements with inventive twists for a truly captivating sonic experience. Learn More
  62. SPACE DRUM MEDITATION - Four Tusks LP

SPACE DRUM MEDITATION - Four Tusks LP

    £21.49

Space Drum Meditation is back with a reissue of Four Tusks, a 12-track odyssey of dreaded sonics and trepidatious treks through augmented wildernesses. Their debut album and seventh reissue on the eponymous label, the duo of Eddie Ness and Liem were once fixtures of the house musical landscape at large, yet only with SDM did they turn their hands to demurer experimental soundscapes, informed by the "tribal" gloom and etherics of an electro-auxed rainforest. Throughout Four Tusks, we hear the sleeker, pantherine side of their catalogue, with ritualistic drumming heard well-melded into many a grim, cowled and rattling texture, all glued by the faint but here still oppressive sound of rain, not to mention vapour steaming off the megaphylls. £11.99

The genesis of the tracks on the Defiance LP [HOROEX38] came directly in the aftermath of the Space Echo EP by ASC for Samurai Red Seal. At the time, James made remixes of some of the tracks from this EP in an updated style for use on his last European tour. Two of these remixes make up the Defiance: Prelude release. Space Echo gets rebuilt into a more sinuous, ethereal soundscape, and Reveal is also refined into a graceful flotation device with sprinkles of air from the ether. Learn More

GEMINI - In Neutral (2x LP)

    £28.49

Gemini's In Neutral has long been considered a classic of the second wave of Chicago deep house. It was well-loved by aficionados upon its original release in 1997, though it didn’t achieve the broader recognition it deserved at the time. Since then, it’s been hard to find on vinyl—unless you're willing to pay the inflated prices online. That's why this licensed reissue from ChiWax is a welcome treat. In Neutral is still widely regarded as Gemini's finest work, blending pounding, hypnotic Detroit techno-inspired deep house tracks with some deeper, jazz-infused downtempo moments (such as "Ahi"). The album also includes a stellar piece of early Chicago "boompty" with the standout track "?" Learn More

FIRST CHOICE - Love & Happiness (RON HARDY Edit)

    £15.98

The American female vocal trio First Choice released their rendition of 'Love and Happiness' in 1973. The track is a cover of Al Green's original released just a year earlier in 1972, but First Choice's version was perhaps helped along the way by a peak case of nominative determinism: for us, theirs is the first choice. Featured on their debut album, Armed and Extremely Dangerous, it stood out on the Philly soul girl gang's record as one of the records most propitious to sampling by house and techno musicians, such as Todd Terry and Jungle Brothers. But this time, the legacy of this preceptive soulful-house interplay is honoured by a newly reissued remix by the mysterious but titanic Chicago producer Ron Hardy, whose inclusion on the record is the real star here. Hardy's signature reel-to-reel fuzzes and presence-bled hues effect recollections of a pre-DAW production setup, and the resonances of dub (woodblocks, four-tone hooks, burly basslines) nest the original Al Green vocal nicely. 79. MARK ERNESTUS' NDAGGA RHYTHM FORCE - KHADIM LP

MARK ERNESTUS' NDAGGA RHYTHM FORCE - KHADIM LP

    £21.49

Khadim is a stunning reconfiguration of the Ndagga Rhythm Force sound. The instrumentation is radically pared down. The guitar is gone; the concatenation of sabars; the drum-kit. Each of the four tracks hones in on just one or two drummers; otherwise the sole recorded element is the singing; everything else is programmed. Synths are dialogically locked into the drumming. Tellingly, Ernestus has reached for his beloved Prophet-5, a signature go-to since Basic Channel days, thirty years ago. Texturally, the sound is more dubwise; prickling with effects. There is a new spaciousness, announced at the start by the ambient sounds of Dakar street-life. At the microphone, Mbene Diatta Seck revels in this new openness: mbalax diva, she feelingly turns each of the four songs into a discrete dramatic episode, using different sets of rhetorical techniques. The music throughout is taut, grooving, complex, like before; but more volatile, intuitive and reaching, with turbulent emotional and spiritual expressivity. Learn More

Echo Drift ventures into more cosmic territory, drifting through an interstellar soundscape rich with sci-fi nuances. That futuristic thread continues on the Mills-inspired Halo, before the EP closes with Infinite Flux—a standout cut that fuses trippy synth modulations with punchy, jacked-up percussion.
