Dez is in full boom bap mode on this release from jump with the opening track ‘Calle Luna, Calle Sol’ and it’s powerful trombones, bassline and iconic chorus, followed by the bonified anthem ‘bandera’. The Flip side is equally impressive. beginning with the airy ‘Vanero’ to the James bond-esque stylings of ‘Que Te Pedi’ which Dez masterfully transforms into a slow burnin’ head nodder Before closing strong with ‘Roberto Faz’ an ode to one of Cuba’s finest soneros. memorable from start to finish, there’s something here for everyone.
