DJ HIMITSU - Sometime EP

London-based RUKI looks to the other side of the world for its second EP, with Japanese producer DJ Himitsu offering up his unique take on house music. It's deep and dusty, but at the same time alive with an organic sound that is influenced by the natural world. 'Mint' is a swirl with lush pads that bring cosmic moods next to the woody percussion and little watery fills, then 'Sometime' is a percolating rhythm that rises up from the depths with distant bird calls and a steamy tropical heat. 'Matane' is buoyant and uplifting Chicago-style deepness with gentle breaking waves adding a Balearic feel and 'Door' shuts down with psychedelic-infused breaks and a spiritual percussive charm that reminds of the jazz of Don Cherry and Alice Coltrane.
