Curated From Time's latest deep dive into tech-tinged house history takes us back to 1999 and the sole collaboration between California scene stalwart Kenneth Graham and the mysterious DJ Kuya. Originally released by Sunchild Recordings, the four-track EP joins the dot between dub-flecked West Coast deep house, the intergalactic futurism of formative tech-house, and locked-in morning deep house. The pair begin via the ebbing and flowing dub techno style synth motifs, enveloping pads and sturdy deep house beats of 'Westward', before reaching for sun-splashed funk and disco samples and the warming roll of 'Check Its'. 'Shadows' sits somewhere between the two tracks - think funky guitar licks, spacey loops and chunky bottom-end - while 'Words' is a gorgeous chunk of breakbeat-powered future jazz/deep house fusion.
